Ron Paul on Syria: Amongst the rebels that the West is looking to help is Al Qaeda

With the drums of war once again beating loudly over Syria, leave it to ex-Congressman Ron Paul to succinctly (and sanely) lay out just just where we are:

Of note:

  • This is war and Presidents aren’t supposed to start wars without permission from the people
  • It won’t do us any good to expand into a new war
  • Amongst the rebels are member of Al Qaeda
  • This foreign policy is starting to backfire
  • Al Queda from Iraq are helping the rebels that the West is looking to arm
  • It is not possible to pick out the good guys

And just before you write-off Ron Paul and his assertion that the people who the West are looking to help are actually the very same people we’ve been fighting a ‘war on terror’ for more than 10 years, here’s an article from USA Today titled “Syrian rebels pledge loyalty to al-Qaeda”:

A Syrian rebel group’s April pledge of allegiance to al-Qaeda’s replacement for Osama bin Laden suggests that the terrorist group’s influence is not waning and that it may take a greater role in the Western-backed fight to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The pledge of allegiance by Syrian Jabhat al Nusra Front chief Abou Mohamad al-Joulani to al-Qaeda leader Sheik Ayman al-Zawahri was coupled with an announcement by the al-Qaeda affiliate in Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq, that it would work with al Nusra as well.

The current escalation comes on the back of the US claiming that Assad had ‘crossed a red line’ when he allegedly used chemical weapons against his people.

Of course there has been no evidence presented to the people of this supposed fact. The West are expecting everyone to just take their word for it, just like they did with weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – and how did that turn out for everyone?

Which brings us to a Yahoo News article from the beginning of the year titled “US ‘backed plan to launch chemical weapon attack on Syria, blame it on Assad govt’: Report:

London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad’s regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.

A new report, that contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence, showed a scheme ‘approved by Washington’.

As per the scheme ‘Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons,’ the Daily Mail reports.

In fact, the only ‘hard’ evidence of chemical weapons use actually been on the side of the rebels. From a  Jerusalem Post article titled “UN has testimony that Syrian rebels used sarin gas”:

GENEVA – UN human rights investigators have gathered testimony from casualties of Syria’s civil war and medical staff indicating that rebel forces have used the nerve agent sarin, one of the lead investigators said on Sunday.

The United Nations independent commission of inquiry on Syria has not yet seen evidence of government forces having used chemical weapons, which are banned under international law, said commission member Carla Del Ponte.

So in summary:

  • The West is looking to arm Al Qaeda rebels in Syria
  • The West backed a plan to launch a Chemical Weapons attack and blame the Syrian government
  • The UN no less have found hard evidence that the REBELS (the people the West are looking to support) are the only group to have actually used chemical weapons

This is like the lies about Iraq and WMD on steroids from where we’re sitting – but still the government’s of the West seem hell bent on War in Syria, and with news over the weekend that Iran are sending up to 4000 troops to Syria a war in Syria, should the West get their way, this could get very messy, very quickly.

It’s a good job that the economies of the West are booming and can handle the great expensive of another war… oh, wait.

Also of note is the top comment underneath this video by Dr. Paul:
