HMG shouldn’t get a penny piece of the booty.
As I understand it, the vessel is lying in international waters, on that basis alone I would tell them to clear off.
Another point: it can’t just be me who finds the timing of this ‘new’ discovery highly suspicious…

The shipwreck is not in UK waters. It is in international waters, 300 miles SW of the Irish coast in the North Atlantic. The interest of the UK lies in the fact that it was a British ship carrying a British Government cargo.
