Review: Gold Rush (TV Series):
Gold Rush takes primarily takes place in the Klondike, which is located in Yukon. A rugged gold-mining region, in Canada. Which is known for its harsh, inhospitable conditions. However more recent seasons have also featured new gold mining destinations in North America and South America.
Season one of Gold Rush revolves around six gold miners from Sandy, Oregon. Who decide to travel all the way to Porcupine Creek, in Alaska. In order to try their luck at gold mining. The stakes are high for all six men, who recently lost their jobs in Sandy, due to the economic downturn in their town.
What makes watching the first season of Gold Rush so exciting is that almost all of the men, have little or no gold mining experience and must quickly learn the ropes of gold mining. In order to avoid losing their large investments. As the last thing that the stars of Gold Rush want to do is to return to Sandy, Oregon without a job or a cent to their names.
Season two of Gold Rush is even more exciting as you get to follow the progress of three competing gold mining crews. The Hurt Crew, the Schnabel Crew and the Hoffman Crew. All of which were founded by the men who featured in season one of Gold Rush. Part of the excitement of watching season 2 is seeing if your favorite crew manages to make a profit or has sunk their capital into new gold mines where there is no gold to be found.
It’s also well worth watching Gold Rush as none of the storylines which feature in Gold Rush are fabricated. Which means that sometimes some of your favorite crews may finish a season without making a profit. In some seasons some of your favorite crews may even be forced to take out loans in order to cover their costs.
Perhaps one of the reasons why Gold Rush is so popular is that to this day gold mining is a huge gamble, which only pays off some of the time. So when a crew successfully mines a large amount of gold, you’ll feel just as excited watching them from home, than if you were a gold miner yourself. If you’re looking for a bit of added excitement in your life, you’ll definitely be on the edge of the seat, each time that you sit down to watch Gold Rush.
So what are you waiting for? If you’re looking for a new reality show to watch that has engaging storylines and interesting characters, which features high stakes, it’s well worth watching Gold Rush!
